Temperature control that sets the pace: How the Unistat 815 optimized fuel testing
When people think of temperature control technology, words like stability, precision, or cooling come to mind. But in industrial practice, it means much more – such as shortening production cycles, reducing scrap rates, or speeding up decision-making in the lab. And that’s exactly what the Slovenian company Primatron achieved after integrating the powerful Huber Unistat 815 into its workflow.
Pour point testing as a critical parameter
Primatron specializes in testing the physical and chemical properties of petrochemical products, including the pour point test – which determines the lowest temperature at which a fluid will pour. This is a key parameter for the transportation and storage of lubricants and fuels. The test is performed at extremely low temperatures, and any deviation can result in incorrect results or the need to repeat the test.
A new approach: 4 tests at once, consistent results
To increase laboratory throughput while maintaining (or even improving) precision, Primatron invested in the Unistat 815 from the German company Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau SE. The system allows them to manage four parallel applications and keeps temperatures consistently as low as –70 °C.
“In this setup, the Unistat is connected to four devices simultaneously. The tests require constant and deep temperatures – and the Unistat handles it effortlessly,” Huber stated on their LinkedIn.
As a result, the lab achieved:
- throughput increase by dozens of percent,
- reduced variation between tests,
- fewer repeated tests.
Why choose Unistat?
The Huber Unistat 815 is designed for demanding applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. It offers a temperature range from –85 to +250 °C, outstanding stability of ±0.01 °C, and a hydraulically sealed circulation system that prevents moisture ingress and oxidation of the thermal fluid. The system is equipped with the intuitive Pilot ONE controller, making management and remote operation simple. These features make it a popular choice in research, API production, polymer chemistry, and battery testing – anywhere precise and dynamic temperature control is essential.
A model for laboratories across Europe
This example from Slovenia shows how smart temperature control can significantly improve even conservative testing protocols. It’s no longer just about "keeping things cold" – it’s an active tool for improving performance and quality. The Huber Unistat range is used in pharmaceutical research, polymer development, battery testing, and reactor temperature control. Wherever accuracy and fast response matter – Unistat delivers.

Other Huber products for small-scale applications
In addition to the Unistat series, we also offer compact devices for labs, R&D, and technical operations where precise temperature control is needed, but a full-scale process system isn’t required.
- Huber Unistat Tango – circulating bath thermostat (cryostat) down to –45 °C, ideal for controlling smaller reactors and experimental setups
- Huber Unistat Tango w – compact water-cooled cryostat with enhanced connectivity (Ethernet, analog I/O)
- Huber CC-E Pilot ONE Basic – immersion circulator with touch-based Pilot ONE controller, range down to –30 °C
- Huber CC-K12 – refrigerated bath circulator to –20 °C with ±0.02 °C accuracy, for both internal and external applications
- Huber Piccolo – Peltier chiller (no compressor) with a +4 °C to +70 °C range, vibration-free and ultra-quiet
All units share the advanced Pilot ONE interface and sealed circulation system, enabling consistent control, low thermal fluid consumption, easy maintenance, and long service life. An ideal choice wherever precise temperature control matters.
